Special Requests for Absences & Vacations

Planned absences will count toward the 6 allowed absences per semester. Any planned absence of any length requires a signed note from parent/guardian, turned in to BA’s main office with dates of absence at least one week prior to a student absence. If a request is not made at least one week prior to the absence, teachers are not responsible for assignments and may withhold credit for missed work. Students are responsible for completing all the work missed during the absence. Teachers are not responsible for providing tutorial services for such absences.

A student having a doctor or a dental appointment during school hours is to bring in a note from parent/guardian the day before the appointment, or at least no later than the morning of the day of the appointment (before 8:05 am). The time of departure & expected return from the appointment will appear on the teachers' attendance sheets. When the student leaves the building, he/she shall sign out in the Office. Upon returning, the student shall sign in and go to the class in session.

We strongly recommend that appointments are made before or after school hours whenever possible.

A student who becomes ill during the school day shall report to the Office. A parent/guardian will be contacted. No sick student will be allowed to leave the building without a parent/guardian's permission and a directive where to send the student.
